The City of Eau Claire has recently welcomed Jessica Oleson-Bue as the new Housing Division Manager, following the retirement of Keith Johnathan. Jessica, who has a background in social work and extensive experience in the housing sector, expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity to address the challenges of affordable housing in the community. She shared, "I look forward to developing partnerships and finding opportunities to expand affordable housing in the City of Eau Claire."

In response to the recent mixed precipitation, the City's decision not to do a full plow was met with varying feedback. While some residents expressed gratitude for the decision, citing the avoidance of additional snow removal tasks, others provided negative feedback. The Streets Division manager acknowledged the complexity of the decision-making process, stating, "It was quite a battle within my own mind on what the right answer was in this last situation on Monday."

As the City prepares for potential spring flooding due to recent snow and rain, certain areas are expected to be closed for safety reasons once the river reaches the Action Stage. Residents are advised to stay informed and cautious in areas prone to flooding.

In a nostalgic Easter Egg Hunt memory, the Chippewa Valley Museum Director Carrie Ronnander shared insights into the history of the event at Carson Park, which included live animals such as baby chicks and rabbits. The event, organized by the Jaycees, was a beloved tradition in the community during the 1960s.

Additionally, the City announced its participation in a local collaboration that received a grant to improve local health through data-driven strategies. The initiative aims to promote health equity and community development, highlighting the importance of cross-sector partnerships in addressing public health issues.

The City also recognized the efforts of its employees, spotlighting Assistant Planner Katrina Berg for her dedication and positive impact within the community. Katrina, who is described as thoughtful and hardworking, shared her excitement for her upcoming wedding and her love for playing pinochle with her family.

Furthermore, the City shared updates on upcoming events, including District Discussions and Council meetings, inviting residents to engage with City officials and participate in community activities.

The City Manager's Weekly Update provides a glimpse into the City's initiatives, events, and community engagement efforts. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and involved in shaping the future of Eau Claire.
